This was the first conference I have attended and I certainly came away with many strategies to implement back into the learning environment. It also reinforced for me what a huge difference we can make as teachers in the classroom.
Wilson McCaskill
What an inspirational speaker! I thoroughly enjoyed his workshop and his powerful messages to use with children. We can learn so much through play and all learning is relationship based. Wilson believes the braver you are, the more you learn and this is something that I need to remind myself sometimes. “ Be Brave- Participate to Progress”
Allie Mooney
Allie presented a humorous and fun presentation on how people are wired differently. I enjoyed learning about the different personalities and analyzing my own, which then got me thinking about my own family and what makes them tick! Allie reinforced the importance of knowing all the personalities and strengths of the children in our room.
James Nottingham
I found James’s discussion on types of praise very interesting and how we should praise the behaviour and not intelligence. Another thought provoking part of the presentation was the ‘Eureka Moment’ where children have to struggle with a challenge before they can understand and progress.
A very worthwhile conference which left me reflecting on my own teaching and also reinforced why I love being a teacher!
